Teaching Scenarios

Classroom – no media

For teachers who are not comfortable with media or those who don’t have media access in the classroom.

  • use text and workbook in the classroom
  • students access media at home or in a computer lab or library
  • teachers can supply some group time in class for students to share their media experiences (example: in groups with their StudyBUZZ study guide printouts)

Classroom – some media

For a classroom that only has a few computers or only has an instructor station with projector.

  • teachers can teach as above (see “no media” scenario)
  • send students alone or in small groups to work with media (examples: those struggling with fractions can do the fractions concept capsule, those finished with their work can play a math embedded game, those interested in the graphing calculator can do the concept capsule on graphing calculators and be provided with graphing calculators to do a project)
  • break students into similar StudyBUZZ groups for test review

Classroom – media rich

For classrooms that have a computer for every 1 or 2 students and possibly a smart board.

  • everything from above (see “some media” scenario)
  • can include teacher-designed lessons around the media – game days, student groups presenting concept capsules on the smart board, student run review sessions
